Sean McGaughey, the Chef of Opus Fine Dining in Cherry Creek is a Colorado native who from an early age knew he wanted to become a professional chef. In pursuit of that dream he moved to Denver to attend the prestigious Johnson and Wales University, specializing in culinary arts.
 
As a young chef he manned the stoves in kitchens as diverse as the Green Gables private club and Samplings Wine Bar in Breckenridge and had numerous other culinary adventures such as cooking at The American Pavilion for the Cannes Film Festival among others. In 2006 Sean became Chef De Cuisine and then Executive Chef of Opus restaurant in Littleton, which despite it’s suburban locale has been one of the top restaurants in all of Colorado for the past decade. When Opus moved to Cherry Creek in the fall of 2012, Sean set up camp in the new spacious kitchen to continue his inspired cooking of whimsical new American cuisine. His style draws upon the roots and flair of Thomas Keller with cutting edge techniques of a Wylie Dufranse.  With it’s new location close to the center of Denver the patrons of Opus Fine Dining can look forward Sean’s innovative cooking for years to come.
